Oscar's so chic-The fashion recap

The biggest and brightest award show riveted in positivity. Artist’s from all walks of life were honoured at a spectacular show that captured our souls. Instead of having a typical host come out and do some sort of humorous monologue, which can be rather boring and plain. Justin Timberlake came out instead and opened up the show with a soulful and get on your feet kind of attitude! This was a spectacular way to open up the show.

As cameras moved around the location, capturing stars’ reaction to such a fun loving surprise, it got some people out of their seats. In a heavily charged, negative and somewhat scary world, it was refreshing to see more positivity. Get happy, it’s impossible not to smile when you feel like dancing in your seat.

The theme of the night was loosening up. Perfection is overrated! This season, it’s all about looking effortlessly sexy and have some fun.

The best part of the night, besides the lovely speeches, was how past met present through highlights being shown of past Oscar winners. This was lovely to see and defiantly fit the evening rather well.

It wasn’t just the actors that were honoured for the cinema craft. It was the people behind the scenes, the technological engineers, the makeup artists, costume design, set design, and much more. These hard working people not only bring the movie to life but they create such brilliant work.

As I predicted in my Pre Oscar’s article, many of the stars on the red carpet worked the room in sequins. Gold & silver were favoured but gold seemed to rain supreme. With all the hype of what people were going to wear, it seems the women overshadowed the men that night. Even though many women love to see the incredible dresses picked right off the runways, we also love to see what the men are all about.

Check out my Oscar’s Fashion Recap and find out who is my number one pick for the best dressed.

City Of Star's

Emma Stone, for La La Land shown bright in a Givenchy gown that felt like a roaring 20’s flapper dress, all the way from Paris! Her hair and makeup is perfection, giving an old Hollywood glam that was defiantly stunning.

Ruth Negga sported a beautiful red gown by Valentino. She looked very statute and bold in this. The only thing better than rocking one gorgeous colour? Is wearing it with texture of course. These cool combos of lace and bright red had a major moment on the red carpet.

Nicole Kidman was a shining delight in a dress by Armani Prive. She accessorized her style with Harry Winston Jewels. I just love how retro meets modern she looks here. She always seems to get it right, especially her lovely scarlet red lip.

Jessica Biel worked it out with the sequins theme of a gold dress by Kaufman Franco. Accessorizes with none other than Tiffany & Co. jewellery. She looked really chic in this form fitting gown that shined so bright.

Isabelle Huppert arrived in Parisian glamour wearing Armani Prive. I absolutely love this dress! She is just such a gorgeous actress and always gets her style on point! Take note ladies, you have some fierce competition.

The men switched it up this season, and instead of wearing traditional black, they opted for blue instead.

The Men Brought It

Michael Strahan & The Rock both wore velvet blue dinner jackets with tuxedo trousers. Both men looked elegant in sapphire blue with contrasting piping detail. I loved the shoes! Women have our jewellery and handbags, but men know what it is like to make an excellent impression! A great pair of dress shoes has you being the king of the night.

Justin Timberlake wore a suit by Tom Ford. As classic, as they come, Timberlake made us feel the retro glam with classily sharp bow ties! They seemed to be the theme of the night for the men and defiantly didn’t disappoint.

Mahershala Ali star of Moonlight, looked so sharp in a phenomenal tailored black on black suit by Zenga. The bow tie added a cool factor that took over the night.

Ryan Gosling looked absolutely fit in this tailored number by Gucci. He accented the suit with this ruffled detailed dress shirt that seemed out of the 40s. The La La Land star looked like he was ready for the Rat Pack.

And The Winner Is...

The most noble names strut their stuff at Hollywood’s most elite award show of all time. Only one winner can be chosen here, my pick for the best dressed for women, has to be Emma Stone in Givenchy. I picked her because the dress seemed so effortless and not too busy. It felt retro, dressy, and perfect for the evening but still gave off a youthful vibe.

For the men it has to be Mahershala Ali. I loved his black on black suit by Zenga. My main reason is, I really like how he kept the old fashioned feel while still looking cool as ever in the process.
