Hey guys,
Today I want to share my review of the new Juvia's Place Shade Sticks. I was lucky enough to get the whole shade range sent to me in PR. Their new Shade Sticks come in 30 shades but I gave away the tan/deeper shades to other beauty influencers not on the PR list so that they can try them out and review them as well. I will be reviewing the Fair through medium shades but will leave a link for the full range below. Keep reading to hear more about these new Shade Sticks and my thoughts on them!
"A full coverage natural and radiant finish multipurpose foundation sticks. comes in 30 creamy and long-lasting sticks. Formulated to feel like skin. A weightless multipurpose formula that glides on seamlessly to cover imperfections, while giving full definition to face. This full coverage formula is infused with shea butter and oil controlling ingredients to aid in a long wear time while providing radiance to skin. Paraben-free; phthalate-free; sulfate-free; gluten-free"
The shade sticks came in this super cute bag. The artwork is beautiful and you can fit a TON in this makeup bag.
L-R: Tokyo, Aberdeen, Lima, Nicaragua, Luxor, Barcelona
L-R: Bolivia, Nepal, Manila, Panama, Belize, Marrakesh
L-R: Barcelona, Luxor, Lima
At first, I thought that Luxor was a perfect match but once I blended it out it looked to pale. Barcelona looked better however that too made me look pale. I ended up trying Bolivia and that seemed to be the best match for me. I think that Barcelona and/or Luxor may match me in the middle of winter when my skin lightens some more.
Here is a picture of me wearing the shade Bolivia.
I also used concealer, setting powder in my T-Zone, pressed powder all over, bronzer, blush, and setting spray.
On to my thoughts:
I really love that Juvia's Place included 30 Shades of Shade sticks from Fair to Deep. There is a match for every skin tone. I also like that these sticks can be used to conceal, highlight, cover, and contour your face. I do not contour but I did use the light shades as concealer and they do work well. When it comes to feel I would say the Shade Sticks are light weight and you don't really feel like you have much on your face. They are also creamy and blend nicely. However, I would not call them full coverage on first application. I have seen Instagram videos of people applying them to their face and they do look more full coverage on them. On me I would say light coverage with one layer but buildable to a medium to full coverage. I used 2-3 layers to get a more medium coverage. I would definitely call the finish natural and skin like. It's not super dewy or matte but somewhere in between. I need to set my face with powder because I have combo skin and get oily in my T-Zone. It held up decent throughout the day but I definitely got oily by lunch time. By the end of the day I did have breakdown in my T-Zone but the rest of my face looked fine. Overall, I like these shade sticks but would mainly use them for the work week or when I am going for a minimal look. I would choose to use other foundations when I want a more full coverage long wearing look. That being said, I am really interested in trying out the Juvia's Place I Am Magic Velvety Matte Foundation and Concealer as I great thanks. I plan to pick them up soon and will review them as well once I test them out.
