Musing on the week just gone, I'm not sure where it went; have a feeling I wasn't on board all week. You know the sort, one day rather merges with the next. Full of minor irritations, all first world irritations; nothing to bore you with.
Fortunately the odd photo taken highlights the positives which is always good. Wouldn't want to sink into a whirlpool of negativity. Heavens above!
Delving through our vast bookcase my better half unearthed a book of Jersey walks written in the 1970's. The book was somewhat mildewed and sepia edged, a bit like us, but the walks looked good.
Parking the car on a lane somewhere in the middle of the island we set off through autumnal lanes that neither of us could remember frequenting. Old granite houses, open farmland, cattle and cockerels, of course, were the backdrop for this adventure. Fields of unharvested corn cobs still lay in the fields; had they not ripened in time?
The last couple of days have seen summer return. This afternoon another swim was achieved; pleasantly warm although a sea mist descended as we swam. Quite eerie. My youngest was out on his paddle board. I was quite relieved to see him emerging from the mist.
Back in the garden the sun returned highlighting the now mammoth cosmos. They are everywhere and perfect for cutting and arranging inside. My yellow jumper is almost complete , just the final sleeve. Hopefully ready to wear in the next week or so, if it gets cool enough.
By the way this little fellow was clinging to the washing line. Any ideas?
Well the last bowl of tomatoes have been picked; a sure sign of autumn and the courgettes will not be far behind. I wonder what you are still eating from your gardens?
